Photograph taken for a newspaper owned by the Oklahoma Publishing Company. Caption: "BUT ONE IS HURT--If the boys who work on oil derricks weren't a nimble-footed and quick-thinking bunch, three of them might have been crushed to death Saturday afternoon in the twisted skeleton of steel pictured above. It was an oil derrick with the capitol in the background a few minutes before the photograph was made. Three rig-builders were remodeling the structure when suddenly the groan of strained joints and slow sickening sag of girders gave them a warning. Forty feet off the ground, Joe Pemberson, 711 South Dewey avenue, leaped into space, broke his leg. He also may have internal injuries. He was taken to St. Anthony hospital. Earl Baker, 37 years old, and Herman H. Ewing, 2533 Southwest Twenty-eighth street, slid down corners of the derrick as it buckled and crashed to the ground. Officials said a shift of tubing stacked within the derrick caused the collapse."
