He advises Carswell that after their visit he went to see Mr. Duff and had a nice visit with him and others in the office. Mr. Duff had nothing definite at the time but informed Couch that they might have an opening within a short time. A memorandum from L. M. Fellbaum, Major, Q. M. C., Chief, Field Division to Mr. T. N. Carswell, dated December 11, 1944. The memorandum is a reprimand from Fellbaum regarding the importance that Carswell keep headquarters informed of his present location. A handwritten sidenote from Fellbaum softens the reprimand by stating that this is nothing but nagging. The reverse side includes a handwritten note by Carswell documenting a telephone conversation with Fellbaum defending his reporting of his travel itinerary, confirming his having notified headquarters and the submission of an ammended itinerary on December 13, 1944.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Clerk, Taylor County Local Board No. 1, Abilene, Texas from L. M. Fellbaum, Captain, Q.M.C., Policy Supervisor, Austin, Texas dated December 11, 1942. Fellbaum references a letter from Carswell dated December 8 and addressed to Colonel John R. Banister. He outlines an itinerary for Carswell for the dates of December 16, 1942 through the 28th of December. He instructs Carswell to accompany Mr. Jewel R. Stephens into the counties of District 18-A.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Parramore Post No. 57, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Roy A. McMillan, Major, Specialist, Asst. to Chief, Public Relations Branch, Headquarters Eighth Service Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, dated September 11, 1942. McMillan advises Carswell that he has attached a clipping along the lines they had discussed and, in a handwritten postscript, conveys his appreciation to Carswell for his efforts in having the phone company run him down on his return to San Antonio. Typewritten on Headquarters Eighth Service Command letterhead. The attached clipping contains an article titled "Specialists Commissions Open in Army."

A letter written to Dr. M. E. Sadler, President, Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated May 11, 1942. Carswell expresses his delight that Sadler is to address the meeting to be held at the Hardin-Simmons University Stadium describing the event as a patriotic-religious meeting. He advises of an enclosed copy of the President's Proclamation.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene Chamber of Commerce, from Marion D. Whiteside, Captain, Med. Admin. Corps, Office of The Air Surgeon, Headquarters Army Air Forces, Washington, dated September 11, 1944. Whiteside advises Carswell, on advice from Colonel Tynes, that the time is nearing to again contact Colonel Tripp and General Hines in Washington regarding the Veterans Hospital for Texas.
