A 61-year-old woman was taken to Mercy hospital Wednesday with critical head injuries as the result of a two car collision at NE 23 and Midwest blvd. Injured was Mary Jane Hines 2749 NW 22. She was a passenger in a car driven by Earl S. Haynes, 53 of 3233 NW 29, who suffered minor injuries. The Haynes car and a car driven by Roscoe Walker, 36, Spencer, collided head-on. Trooper Paul McCown said Walker pulled out to pass another car, Walker's car, and the Haynes auto collided on the road shoulder where Haynes had turned in an attempt to avoid collision. Walker suffered an arm injury and lacerations. Two other passengers in the Haynes car were injured. They were Royce Horton, 55 of 2504 NW 30, injury to left foot, and Jessie C. Merideth, 63, of 2220 NW 20, minor injuries."
