Caption: "This Diesel locomotive of the Frisco passenger train ended up on top of the overturned Kansas City Southern freight engine after the two trains collided in eastern Oklahoma, Tuesday. Twenty-six person were injured. Twenty-six persons were reported injured Tuesday night after a Frisco passenger train bound for Monett, Mo., collided with a Kansas City Southern freight head-on seven miles south of Fort Smith just over the Oklahoma line. The injured were rushed to Fort Smith in ambulances, but hospital attendants there reported all but nine were released after receiving emergency treatment. The collision occurred near Cedars, Okla., a town of 30 inhabitants near U. S. 271. The engine of the Frisco Meteor, No. 10, which was made up at Paris, Texas, landed on top of the freight engine and caught fire. The fire, however, did not spread to the passenger or baggage coaches."
