Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Living patterns of many Oklahoma Cityans may be undergoing a change. At least that's the hope of the apartment house business which is counting on a sweeping new trend in modern living to take hold. Apartment House investors are setting the stage with scores of luxury developments where two bathys, maid service, swimming pools and $300-per-month rent bills are not too common. The apartment building business has been booming for about two years in the northwest part of the city after what Paul Clowers, city planning director, describes as a "long drouth" in apartment construction...Average cost per unit is $9,410. Clowers estimates that units costing $9,000 or more will rent from $150 up a month. Of the more than 700 units for which permits have been issued, 286 would fall in this catagory......Clowers said the sudden boom is apartments is due to the fact that OKlahoma City went for many years with no apartments being built and is now catching up with other cities. If there weren't an avaliable market for such apartments, he said, builders would have trouble in obtaining financing."
