Land Treatment

Photograph of Herbert Matlock, Murray County S&WCD cooperator, plants Bermudagrass under his pecan grove near Davis, Okla. The area is protected from being flooded by four watershed structures on the Kickapoo Sandy Creek of the Wachita Watershed. He sold $7,000 worth of pecans off of 90 acres this year.

Oklahoma City's new $5 million postal center is rapidly taking shape, and is expected to be in operation early next year. Two blocks long and a block wide, the new post office is bounded by SW 5, SW 7, Hudson and Harvey, and is oriented to the Santa Fe and Frisco railroads at Union Station across the street, and to the new Crosstown Expressway two blocks away. The site was purchased long ago by the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and made avilable when the center was proposed. the building will be leased to the government by private owners. The main building covers 230,550 square feet, with an 8,650-square-foot vehicle building to the south."
