The letter is in regards to a discussion over advocacy programs and wanting to discuss these ideas with school board members / political leaders to have them look in depth at the discipline-based art education and what contributions it makes to the education of the students. Davis and McCarter mention the Texas Association of School Boards, TASB and believe they could be used a vehicle for doing most of the ground work on advocacy. If NTIEVA works with TASB now they can get a presentation together on art education for their annual conference. Davis and McCarter end the letter by thanking Whatley for her ideas and to contact them if she has any others. A letter from Mary Ann Stankiewicz, program officer for the Getty Center for Education in the Arts, to the Regional Institute Directors. In the letter, Stankiewicz says that she is leaving her position as program officer at the Getty Center for Education in the Arts effective October 8, 1992. Starting November 2, 1992, Stankiewicz says she will be the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs at the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. The letter she gives her new work address, telephone and fax number. The move to Florida will also affect her husband, David Ebitz, also November 2 he will be the director of the Ringling Museum of Art. cc'd on the letter is Vicki Rosenberg.

The memo is in regards to the participants of the National Committee meeting who were unable to share all of their insights due to time constraints. For this reason, Down's is requesting that they submit their written responses concerning questions on the agenda. Also in the memo, Down's has listened the small group appointment to act as liaison between the National Committee and the task forces.
