The back of the photograph proclaims, "Pasture Planting. Seeding of Kentucky Fescue, Smooth brome, and alfalfa mixture seeding in the fall of 1957 on well prepared seedbed at rate of 20 lbs. fescue, 2 lbs. S. brome, 2 lbs. laflafa [sic] per acre. Planting will be fertilized with ammonia nitrate in April 1958, 50 lbs. per acre to complete establishment. Grazing will begin in Oct. 1958 followed by Proper Management. Soil Unit 6-CP, Land Use Capability B-3 III."

Fruit and Vegetable Cultivation

Photograph of conservation crop rotation. Austrian winter peas. 150 acres seeded in November 1956 for soil improvement. Good nitrogen fixation when photo was taken. An excellent growth, field has been in wheat for several years and with a wheat crop to planted in 1957. Seeding rate is about 20 pounds per acre. Seed inoculated. No fertilizer applied.
