Bicycle-Holder.

Patent for a bicycle-holder that holds the bicycle upright. It consists of "a pair of plates clamped upon a portion of the frame of a bicycle, two pairs of ears formed integral with and depending from said plates, one pair of ears being formed convcavo-convex to form a socket between them and constructed with semicircular notches in their lower edges, a rod having a ball or spherical body on its upper end that is located and held for movement in the so formed socket, a lug formed integral with the lower end of one of the remaining pair of ears, and an arm pivoted between said remaining pair of ears, said arm having a bifurcated lower end that engages the rim or tire of the front wheel of the bicycle" (lines 40-54).

Patent for a simple billiard-ball holder that is meant to "provide a means for holding the balls when not in use, so that they will not fall out of the holder to the floor, and means to provide for the tilting of the holder out of line, so that the balls will roll to the opposite end, and out of the opening into the triangle, thereby saving a good part of the time in taking the balls out of the holder" (lines 20-27).

Patent for a cattle-guard that improves on patents previously granted to the inventor (No. 516,307 and No. 501,785). The improvements include "the provision of a counter balance or lever with a weight slidingly thereon, which can be adjusted so as to better regulate the platform (lines 25-28) and perforated guards, which will not get as damaged by the wind as non-perforated guards. The patent also includes springs under the platform instead of springs under the sills.

The improvements include getting rid of the sleeve, and "employ[ing] volute springs instead of the straight flat springs formerly used; [the inventor] also dispense[s] with the links and connect the inner ends of the springs to long pitmen which have a pivotal connection with the suction rod at a point above the springs; [the inventor] furthermore provide[s] a means for adjusting the tension of the springs without altering the connection of the same with the suction rod" (lines 23-31).

This design consists in "mechanism for imparting a combined reciprocating and edgewise play to the cutting knife or knives in order to cause the teeth of said knife or knives to follow or describe a curved or oval path, and thus insure greater efficiency of operation; to provide for the proper lateral contact of the knives in order to insure their proper action and to regulate the pressure or force with which one knife bears on the other; [and] to provide a peculiar form of cutter-teeth which shall be automatic or self-cleaning" (lines 19-30).

Patent for improvements in wire-stretcher for use in fence-building in which wire is secured to a fence-post, using horse power to hitch to the whiffletree and driven along close to the lines of posts. When wires are being leaded out, they are being stretched simultaneously. A lever is inserted in front of the spools as a final additional tension device to tighten and staple the wire to the fence-posts. Illustration is included.

Patent for a simple and effective wire-stretcher that stretches wire and attaches it to the same post to which it is applied. It has a frame, a claw, a spool, a crank, a ratchet wheel, a pawl, and and a chain that secures the claw to the frame. The parts fit inside the body portion of the frame, and wire wraps around the spool.
