Byrdie recounts her life-long appreciation and love for Nora, her older sister; of Nora's and Milton's love for her continuing after they married; their continued love after she and Tommy married; their contribution to Peg "in love and lifelong direction that has enriched her life". She advises that she and Tommy were glad that Nora sounded better the last time they talked to her. Hand written postscript expresses gladness to have Peg come & see them - even for a day.

Thoburn advises of his agreement with Carswell that it was regretful Bob Taft was not elected instead of Johnson. He adds that it is of interest that Carswell's father and uncle and Thoburn's grandfather were all wounded in the battle of Franklin, Tennessee.
