Caption: "Driver Hits Two Men, Escapes A hit-and-run driver abandoned his car and left his two victims lying in the street with painful injuries early Tuesday in the 200 block W Reno. The victims, both pedestrians, were taken to Mercy hospital Clayborn Clifford Davis, 31, Binger, suffered a broken right leg and was admitted for treatment. Robert D. Alexander, 42, of 900 N Broadway, received bruises and abrasions. He was released after treatment. Police filed three complaints against the tag number of the hit-and-run driver's car left at the scene. Officers were attempting to locate the driver later Tuesday morning. Officers W.E. Davis and L.A. Gramling said they found partially-filled half-pint bottle of whiskey in the abandoned 1948 model automobile. Officer W.P. Faris said the driver first stopped after hitting the pedestrians. " He left the scene on foot while I was trying to help the two injured," he said. The two hit-and-run victims, Robert D. Alexander, left, and Clayborn Clifford Davis are shown lying on the pavement awaiting ambulances. Officers W.P. Faris, left, and W.E. Davis, are in the background."
