An Ethnic Spring in the Food Desert? How State Policy Affects Food Environments and Business Entrepreneurships
Data management plan for the grant, "An Ethnic Spring in the Food Desert? How State Policy Affects Food Environments and Business Entrepreneurships." In food system research, the reduced quality of one's food environment (the combination of food security and food access) is a direct symptom of social, political, and economic disparities. Our research has three primary objectives: Aim 1: To determine the role of state policy in the food environment of immigrant communities and communities of color in the United States, Aim 2: To dissect how state and local policies affect the participation of these communities in the U.S. food system, local food environments, and food business ownership, and Aim 3: To explain the current role and the future role of local policy in the food environment of immigrant communities and communities of color in the United States.

Measuring flexibility: A text-mining approach
Article describes how, in creativity research, ideational flexibility, the ability to generate ideas by shifting between concepts, has long been the focus of investigation. Here, the authors build from extant research to theoretically posit, and then empirically validate, a text-mining based method for measuring flexibility in verbal divergent thinking (DT) responses.

Post-imprinting modification: electrochemical and scanning electrochemical microscopy studies of a semi-covalently surface imprinted polymer
Authors of the article describe a post-imprinting modification of the imprinted molecular cavities for electrochemical sensing of a target protein. These mesoporous cavities were modified with a ferrocene ‘electrochemical’ tracer for electrochemical transduction of the target protein recognition.

An investigation of steric influence on the reactivity of FeV(O)(OH) tautomers in stereospecific C–H hydroxylation
Article describes how two new tetradentate N4 ligands (LN4), LN4 = Me2,Me2PyzTACN (1-(2-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)ethyl)-4,7-dimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane) and Me2,MeImTACN (1-((1-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)-4,7-dimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane) have been synthesized and their corresponding Fe(II) complexes [FeII(Me2,Me2PyzTACN)(CF3SO3)2], 1Pz, and [FeII(Me2,MeImTACN)(CF3SO3)2], 1Im, have been prepared and characterized. Based on these labelling studies, the steric influence exerted by each of the ligands towards the relative reactivity of the oxo ligands of the corresponding pair of Fe(V)(O)(OH) tautomers can be derived.

Modulating Uranium Extraction Performance of Multivariate Covalent Organic Frameworks through Donor–Acceptor Linkers and Amidoxime Nanotraps
Article presents a COF (covalent organic framework)-based adsorption-photocatalysis strategy for selective removal of uranyl from seawater in the absence of sacrificial reagents. This work shows that multivariate COF adsorption-photocatalysts can be rationally engineered to work efficiently and stably without sacrificial electron donors, thus opening the pathway for the economic and efficient extraction of uranium from the earth’s oceans.

Mapping Health Fragility and Vulnerability in Air Pollution–Monitoring Networks in Dallas–Fort Worth
Article describes how environmental air pollution remains a major contributor to negative health outcomes and mortality, but the relationship between socially vulnerable populations and air pollution is not well understood. This paper seeks to understand how air pollution monitor placement strategies and policy may neglect social vulnerabilities and therefore potentially underestimate exposure burdens in vulnerable populations.

Preparation of a strong, high prepressing intensity, and multifunction soybean protein adhesive by using hyperbranched functional polymer
Article states that the preparation of a soybean protein adhesive with good prepressing intensity, mildew proof, flame retardant, and high bond strength are conducive to the wide application of a soybean protein adhesive, which is important but challenging for the wood-based panel industry. In this study, two hyperbranched functional polymers were designed.

Subjective Functional Difficulties and Subjective Cognitive Decline in Older-Age Adults: Moderation by Age Cohorts and Mediation by Mentally Unhealthy Days
Article discusses how, despite the expected positive association between subjective functional difficulties (SFD) and subjective cognitive decline (SCD), their mediation by mentally unhealthy days (MUDs) is under-studied. This study examined the mediation effect of MUDs on the association between SFD and SCD by age cohorts’ moderation among older adults.

Metabolic reprogramming underlies cavefish muscular endurance despite loss of muscle mass and contractility
Article discusses the Mexican cavefish Astyanax mexicanus, has lost moderate-to-vigorous activity following cave colonization, reaching basal swim speeds ~3.7-fold slower than their river-dwelling counterpart. Collectively, the authors reveal broad skeletal muscle changes following cave colonization, displaying an adaptive skeletal muscle phenotype reminiscent to mammalian disuse and high-fat models while simultaneously maintaining a unique capacity for sustained muscle contraction via enhanced glycogen metabolism.

Role of heterophase interfaces on local coercivity mechanisms in the magnetic Al0.3CoFeNi complex concentrated alloy
Article describes how authors use state-of-the-art electron microscopy techniques to show that the magnetization reversal process in an Al0.3CoFeNi magnetic complex concentrated alloy (CCA), which is responsible for its coercivity, changes dramatically from a nucleation-type mechanism in the FCC+L12 state of the CCA. Their work reveals that heterophase FCC/BCC interfaces have a much stronger effect on coercivity than isostructural chemically ordered/disordered interfaces and provides a powerful guide to the rational design of microstructure to tune magnetic properties in both complex concentrated alloys and conventional magnetic alloys.

A Shannon-Theoretic Approach to the Storage–Retrieval Trade-Off in PIR Systems
Authors of the article consider the storage–retrieval rate trade-off in private information retrieval (PIR) systems using a Shannon-theoretic approach. Their focus is mostly on the canonical two-message two-database case, for which a coding scheme based on random codebook generation and the binning technique is proposed.
