This design is "to provide an indicator for use in connection with the copy-holder, so that when the copyist is interrupted . . . the indicator may be made to point out the exact place at which [she or] he left off" (lines 12-17). It consists, "with the copy-holding frame and the cross-bar mounted thereon, of an indicator formed of spring metal, said indicator having a slideway to fit the cross-bar, and a laterally-extending hand" (lines 125-130).
