Wrap coat

Wrap/coat of black silk satin. Calf-length, with long "dropped shoulder" sleeves. Center front opening, with inner belt and loop. Collar and opening to below bust and band along front hem trimmed in long black colobus (?) monkey fur. Fully lined in cream silk. Designer's label at top, center inside: "Manufactured by / A. Beller & Co. / New York Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.". Retailer's label just below: "[Ornate monogram] / Neiman-Marcus Co. / Dallas".

Dress ensemble

A) The dress is mid-calf-length, sleeveless, and with a boat neckline. Tailored to fit, with side bust and waist darts. Self fabric bow at top of waist gore which releases into a box pleat at the skirt. Slightly dropped waist. Under the sides of front box pleat edges are two knife pleats to create fullness, with darts for slimmer waist. On either side of front bock pleat is a small 1" intake pleat to balance fullness of skirt. Side seams have a lapping box pleat and an small triangular insert from front side seams. Back waist has 4 sets of box pleats, two on either side of center back zipper closure. The dress has built-in under-structure consisting of inner half-slip of off-white satin, and three layers of stiffened netting petticoats, all with horsehair braid at hem. B) The matching jacket is of the same cloth, cropped short in the bolero style. The center-front opening has no closures and is collarless. Raglan style sleeves are tea elbow length. Under sleeve and sleeve cuff is slightly ruched creating a faux cuff look. It is fully lined in a brown silk organza. 4-way underarm gusset. Sewn into the hem are French weights. Designer's …

Cocktail dress

Cocktail dress of black tissue wool and lace. Below-knee length. Bodice of black lace with vertical undulating bands of black tissue wool. Long sleeves, round neckline. Bodice with inner peach/pale pink sheath lining with thin straps. Black wool skirt. Side zipper closure with snaps part-way around waist for lower section of bodice. Back with ties at neckline and at waist, open between. Empire line. No maker's or retailer's labels in garment.

Cocktail dress

Cocktail dress of black jersey, net, and tape lace/embroidery, and ivory organza. Knee length, with scoop neck. Elbow to 3/4 length sleeves. Horizontal ruching in wide band across waist. Skirt is full and multi-layered. Outer-most layer is of ivory organza, with appliquéd black net with a "flames" pattern lower edge, over-embroidered with black tape lace/appliqué in matching flame patterns. Second layer of skirt is of plain ivory organza. Third layer of skirt is of an ivory nylon faille. Innermost layer is of white tulle, with short extra sections at hips to add fullness, and with a ruffle as hem, gathered into skirt for fullness. Center back zipper. Coat of 3/4 black crepe, center front opening, no closures, wide sleeves, collar and center front from top to just below waist trimmed with black colobus(?) monkey fur. Fully lined in black crepe. Combined Retailer's / Designer's label at upper inside back collar: "Neiman-Marcus Co / Dallas / Beller / New York". With safety-pinned circular tag inside at right reading "#2106 / Neiman-Marcus Co. / Special Sale Price $Crepe R[????]a" and "Mrs Neiman".
