Peggy describes her skills in her typing and short hand class and about wanting to apply for a job at K R B C citing that "Frances Evens from Simmons did" but to only work in the afternoon after class. She conveys the need to earn her own money but notes that Mother seems to think no lady does such a thing. She advises that she can work in the afternoons and study at night since she has no social life due to there "being a shortage of man-power" and brags of having received a letter from Dorane, a friend from college, who spoke of old friends treating her name "as that of a god" because she was the first woman stage manager.
