On a snowy morning at 10 o'clock, with the temperature at 18 degrees, the Union Pacific Railroad's No. 69, westbound, headed by Engine No. 2877, a Pacific type 4-6-2 locomotive, departs from the Kansas City Union Station enroute from St. Louis to Denver on January 5, 1947.

Revised edition. "Muscadine grapes, which are native to the southeastern part of the United States, thrive in most soils of that region. They can be grown successfully in the Southeastern States, where American bunch grapes do not thrive. furthermore, they are suitable for home gardens as well as for commercial use. In fact they are perhaps the most satisfactory of all fruits for the home garden in this region. They cannot be grown, hoever, where temperatures as low as 0 °F occur habitually and may be injured at somewhat higher temperatures. Muscadine grapes are relatively uninjured by diseases and insects and produce well with a minimum of care, but they resopnd favorably to the good cultural practices recommended in this bulletin. The varieties described or listed produce fruit suitable for making unfermented juice, wine, jelly, and other culinary products and for eating fresh over a long season." -- p. ii

Bodice has boned under structure. 3/4" shoulder straps and straight skirt. 1" belt of self fabric from front darts to center back; closes with hook & loops. Center back zipper with hook & eye. Unlined. B) Cropped jacket with pleated in front and back to a 3" waistband. Closure of three openwork, brass buttons, 1/2" wide, and bound buttonholes. Long sleeves with 1-1/2" cuffs and one matching button and bound buttonhole per sleeve. Band collar has 10" tie ends and L-shaped lapel. Unlined. A letter addressed to "Tom Carlson" [T. N. Carswell], Abilene, Texas from Seomare Westfull, Carthage, Mo., dated April 26, 1947. Westfull requests a statement from Carswell to vouch for his integrity. In a postscript, he requests that Carswell send the original to Roy E. Mayes, President of the Carthage Marble Corp and the copy to him. Carswell makes note that he answered as requested in as helpful a way as he knew how.
