A) Jacket has notched collar with very pointed collar and large round lapels, left collar point has a large bound buttonhole in it, double-breasted, closes with 2 bound buttonhole and covered buttons, 4 slanted bound pockets: left chest, right waist and both hips, front rounded at hem, back has pointed yoke, long sleeves without cuffs. Pair of pumps of black leather. Shoes with pointed toes, and cut-work on the vamp which is outlined and embellished with small bronze/copper colored beads. Small circular holes edged with beading at sides. 2" high modified Louis or cuban heels. Stamped inside with retailer's mark: "Marshall Field & Co / Chicago" L: 26 cm W: 8 cm H: 13 cm Heel: 5 cm / 2 in.

Hat of beige velour. Styled as a modified calotte (also spelled "calot"), the hat has a low domed crown and narrow rolled brim with extends slightly more in front to form a "visor" shape. Set at front of hat is an ornament of crossed large white and beige feathers, and smaller gray and white ones. Underside of visor lined with an off-white jersey-like material, and the hat has an inner hatband of dark gray beige grosgrain ribbon overlaid with silver rickrack and pink lace. Maker's label: "Chapeaux / Paris...Chicago" Stamped inside crown: "Midi / Imported velour body / Made in France"

Hat of black felt. "Pancake" style hat with low, domed crown of black felt slightly "puffed out" at top. Around base of crown is tied ribbon made of white Birdseye pique, with self bow at each side. Hat has wide circular black felt brim, set slightly off-center to back around crown. Inner black grosgrain ribbon hatband. Black felt back strap lined with black grosgrain ribbon secure hat to wearer's head. Labels: Retailer's label on inside band: "Carson Pirie Scott & Co. / Chicago" Additional label sewn partly behind retailer's label: "57 31"

Hat of ivory leather. Narrow brim curves up in back and down in front. High cylindrical crown. Entire hat has horizontal top stitching with exception of narrow hatband.
