The Effect of Chlorpromazine on Avoidance Learning in Rats (open access)

The Effect of Chlorpromazine on Avoidance Learning in Rats

In this experiment it was hypothesized the (a) those organisms trained under the influence of chlorpromazine will perform a learned task (when tested) with more incorrect responses than a comparable group trained under "normal" conditions; (b) those organisms tested under the influence of chlorpromazine will perform a previously learned task with more incorrect responses than a comparable group of organisms tested under "normal" conditions.

Conflict in Children Related to the Number of Choice Alternatives

The purposes of the present study are to attempt to discover if there is a predictable relationship between conflict and an increase in the number of choice alternatives, to specifically determine if this hypothesized relationship exists in a predictable order in children, to endeavor to show that this hypothesized relationship is such that generalization of application to a natural environment is credible, and to attempt to discover if there are sex differences that may influence this relationship.

Reversal and Nonreversal Shifts in Concept Learning in Three Levels of Retardates (open access)

Reversal and Nonreversal Shifts in Concept Learning in Three Levels of Retardates

The primary objective of this experiment is to investigate the transition from single unit to mediation control in retardates and to compare their responses with those made by nursery, kindergarten and grammar school children. By utilizing three MA levels of retarded subjects, this transition point may be more specifically demonstrated.

The Relationship of Anxiety, Reported Ability to Swim, and a Perceptual-Motor Skill

The problems relevant to this study are concerned with the effect of specific performance criteria on the MAS. The purpose of this study is to determine if MAS scores are related to the following: (1) a subject's inability to swim, (2) a subject's performance on a pursuit rotor task, (3) the effects of an interaction of these criteria.

A Study of Incidental Learning in a Classroom Type Situation

This paper contends that, like children of average intelligence, there is a degree of material that will be learned by the retardate, even if his attention is not directly brought to bear upon that material.

The Bender-Gestalt Test: A Factor Analytic Study of Each Design as it Relates to Various Individual Personality Traits (open access)

The Bender-Gestalt Test: A Factor Analytic Study of Each Design as it Relates to Various Individual Personality Traits

Is it possible that the Bender-Gestalt (B-G) protocol of an individual is complex of many different, discrete, perceptual tests? Is it possible to find the relationships among the scoring factors for the B-G and by factor analysis find some systematic order among the individual designs useful in predicting specific behavioral propensities? If a consistent relationship can be shown to exist between scorable deviations on the B-G designs and certain personality variables among individuals, then perhaps a start can be made toward predictive validity of the B-G.

The Relationship of Expectancy of Success to Objective Probability and Consequences of Performance

The work reviews a article published by N. T. Feather about five approaches which relate to the analysis of behavior in a choice situation where a decision is made between alternatives having different subjective probabilities of attainment. The relationship between choice potential and success probability is affect by the type of situation in which the choice is made.

Relationship of the Content of Dreams to Personal Conflicts (open access)

Relationship of the Content of Dreams to Personal Conflicts

This study will endeavor to substantiate the theory that dreaming serves the function of trying to handle conflicts met by the individual during waking life, but not resolved at the time. In order to do this, several hypotheses will be advanced concerning the different observable content of dreams of two different populations. A relationship will be drawn between this difference in content and the known difference in the types of conflicts common to each of the populations.

The Effectiveness of Denton State School's Developmental Evaluation Form in Evaluating an Operant Training Program for Severely Retarded Boys (open access)

The Effectiveness of Denton State School's Developmental Evaluation Form in Evaluating an Operant Training Program for Severely Retarded Boys

The problem of this study was to evaluate Denton State School's Developmental Evaluation Form as it is now being used in their operant conditioning techniques in certain basic self-help areas, and to suggest a more effective and informative method of scoring the Evaluation Form. The present method of scoring this evaluation form requires that -all items at each developmental level be passed in order to receive credit for that level. No partial credit is given at any level. This method of scoring yields a developmental level at which. the individual is functioning. It does not, however, point out the total overall development of the individual. The present type of basal developmental scoring is not as discriminating as far as picturing an individual's total development as the one which will be suggested.
