Carswell identifies himself as a Delegate to the convention and requests a room at the Herring, Amarillo or Capitol, mentions a mutual friend, Mr. W. E. Fraley, or Jess Rogers noting he wrote the Democratic Housing committee two weeks back and received no reply.

Daniel expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell in which he expressed his continued interest and good wishes. Notification by Ledbetter of a meeting to be held of the Board of Trustees which has been called by Mr. W. P. Wright, the first meeting with the new President of Hardin-Simmons University. He advises of a personal invitation which Carswell will receive in due time for a dinner to be given by Mr. and Mrs. Wright honoring Dr. and Mrs. Reiff.

The Alabama Board advises that the request was made to the Florida authorities to investigate a transfer from Texas. Stephens advises regarding a reply from Florida and gives instructions for Subject No.59,311 to report. The reverse side includes inked stamp; RECEIVED 1957 JUN - 4 AM 3:11 BOARD OF PARDONS AND PAROLES.

A letter written to a parolee in Abilene, Texas from James Welsh, Secretary, Governor's Office, Sacramento 14, California, dated November 29, 1951 (with a copy to T. N. Carswell). Welsh informs Subject 17095 that the completed application for executive clemency is being forwarded to the Adult Authority for consideration and a recommendation to the Governor.

Mahon expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell regarding pending labor legislation and foreign aid reduction. Mahon advises that he advocates the passage of effective labor reform and that he has voted in the past for reductions in the foreign aid program. He requests to be sent a copy of the Press Club address.
