Patent for a cattle-guard that improves on patents previously granted to the inventor (No. 516,307 and No. 501,785). The improvements include "the provision of a counter balance or lever with a weight slidingly thereon, which can be adjusted so as to better regulate the platform (lines 25-28) and perforated guards, which will not get as damaged by the wind as non-perforated guards. The patent also includes springs under the platform instead of springs under the sills.

Patent for improvements in wire-stretcher for use in fence-building in which wire is secured to a fence-post, using horse power to hitch to the whiffletree and driven along close to the lines of posts. When wires are being leaded out, they are being stretched simultaneously. A lever is inserted in front of the spools as a final additional tension device to tighten and staple the wire to the fence-posts. Illustration is included.

Patent for a simple and effective wire-stretcher that stretches wire and attaches it to the same post to which it is applied. It has a frame, a claw, a spool, a crank, a ratchet wheel, a pawl, and and a chain that secures the claw to the frame. The parts fit inside the body portion of the frame, and wire wraps around the spool.

This design is "to provide a . . . valve . . . to cut off the supply of water upon the outside of the induction-port and to drain all water from the valve-body and the connecting-pipes above the same, thereby preventing freezing of the same" (lines 10-15). It consists in "[t]he valve casing or body having oppositely-located ports and provided with a perforated interiorly-threaded lug or projection, in combination with the flanged bushing seated in said valve-casing and having a valve-seat at its outer end, and perforations extending through the flange" (lines 93-99).

Patent for an improved, simple, and inexpensive ventilator for large refrigerators. It "can be readily applied to an ice box or refrigerator and so constructed that the hot air which is pressed upward is forced through the ventilator and thereby lowering the temperature of the ice box and a consequent saving of ice" (lines 23-28). The ventilator has a valve that releases hot air and automatically closes after the air is released.
