He requests that Davis contact Miller to secure his services due to it being a statewide issue rather than county or district. He advises of an enclosure listing the names of ministers who were included in the meeting.

Newton, President of the Southern Baptist Convention, and others urged upon the President the advisability of the withdrawal of the United States representation from the Vatican. Carswell confirms that he is in full accord with that request.

Reiff acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell asking him to inform the Convention nominating committee of his desire that someone replace him on the Board of Trustees. Reiff expresses his appreciation and that of the University to Carswell for his loyalty and interest in the school for more than forty years.
