Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "The "steel blues" were over Tuesday at the veterans administration hospital under construction at NE 13 and Kelly. Sufficent steel is now on hand and at the mills to insure completion of the 500-bed hospital. Some of the steel is shown in the picture. Completion Date of City's New VA Hospital Set Back to 1953. Completion date of the new 500-bed veterans administration hospital at NE 13 and Kelly has now been set for January, 1953, by K. R. Simmons, general superindendent for Robert E. McKee Co., contractors......The $8 millions structure will require 3,200 tons to steel framework. Interior work has started on the first wing, laundry, recreation building and boiler house. The stel shortage caused a year's delay in construction of the new hospital. It was supposed to have been finished in 500 days, but delays were allowed by the VA because of the shortages."
