More than 250 men, women and high school students were toiling under a bright May sun as the task of cleaning up the damage wrought by Mother Nature got well underway...Monday night a group of citizens led by Mayor Earl Hagar and Dow McElvany, third district county commissioner, met to lay out a plan of action. At the same time, Walker Starks, Prague chamber of commerce president, was talking to a group of citizens about helping their nearby neighbors. Tuesday morning the groups left their jobs and desks to meet at the rodeo grounds east of the city. A school bus brought 40 FFA boys from Prague high-school and they joined forces with 37 FFA members to assist in the cleanup. Mayor Hagar left his blacksmith shop to help in the cleanup and Commissioner McAlvany directed the operstions from the rodeo grounds."
