The wife of the subject advises Carswell that this letter is in regards to the clemency case for her husband to be brought before the Board in June. She advises of her husband's plans to accept a job with Larghterdale and Strawn in Taylor County and requests that Carswell accept him as a parolee. She advises that her husband was interviewed by Rev. George Beto who made a recommendation to the Board for clemency and requests that Carswell write to the Board and send to her a copy of his letter.

She explains who Sydney Reagan is, a boy from Washington who is in San Antonio, and gives his educational and family background noting that he has held an administrative job in Washington for several years. She requests from Carswell any help that he can give regarding introducing Reagan to the Wagstaff Firm in Abilene.

A letter written to Mrs. Whitehead from T. N. Carswell, dated March 2, 1958. Carswell acknowledges the receipt of her letter regarding her question on the amount of the tax shown on the return advising the question proved to be well founded. He apologizes for his mistake and encourages her appraisal of his work as needed, expresses his appreciation for the spirit of her letter and advises that it "but deepens an opinion I've long had of you". In a postscript to Whitehead, Carswell advises that he is working on her 1957 return and that he will forward a rough draft.
