A letter written to parolee in Abilene, Texas, from E. A. Burkhart, Executive Secretary, Adult Authority, Sacramento, California, dated November 30, 1953. Burkhart advises Subject A-9803 of the referral of his application by the Governor to the Adult Authority for review but that the parole time served is not sufficent to evidence complete rehabilitation making a favorable recommendation doubtful. He advises of enclosed instructions which outlines the items required to make application for pardon and executive clemency.

A form letter addressed to the Ex-Officers, 10th Battalion, Texas State Guard, from John H. Alvis, Abilene, Texas, dated November 30, 1953. Humorous invitation to a dinner meeting of The American Legion citing that "Chaplain R. B. Freeman―will furnish the venison."

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Preston Smith, Lieutenant Governor, Austin, Texas, dated November 30, 1967. An invitation issued to Carswell, his family and his friends "to discuss any problems confronting our State" at a coffee in Abilene at the Downtowner Motor Inn in the Crystal Room.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene Machine Company, Abilene, Texas, from R. D. Hill, Little Rock, Arkansas, dated November 30, 1949. Hill outlines his business travel itinerary advising that if it is necessary to appoint or elect officers he will call on Carswell to act as one of them. Hill adds, in a handwritten postscript, that there was no time for corrections.
