Letter from David S. Kennard to his mother from Camp Hope, Arkansas, saying he was getting well and had stayed with the sick in camp while the rest of the men marched to the White River. Two men from other regiments died on the prairie and the men from his company had marched in a cold rain, marching in water and mud from the top of their shoes, up to knee height. Uncle George was riding a horse back home, Uncle John is in good health, Bill Harris is getting well, Bill Hadley is well, and Captain Shannon went to the White River where he got sick and remains for now. Colonel A. Nelson was promoted to brigadier general and took sick and died.

Letter from Austin A. Yates to the Colonel commanding the 1st N. Y. Vet. Cavl. which certifies the following men as Privates in the 1st Company N. Y. Vet. Cavalry: James A. Wilkie, Theron King, Myron H. Densmore, Benjamin F. Carpenter, and John D. Humphrey. These men were certified as privates by Capt. Capt. S. M. Harmon and received bounties for their promotions. The bounties were: advanced pay in the sum of $13.00, a premium on the sum of $2.00, and a bounty in the sum of $60.00. Hamilton K. Redway is listed with the promoted soldier's signatures.

Letter that certifys that Col. William H. ?orney is unable to to discharge military duty in consequence of a gunshot wound. The doctor also believes that he will not be able to continue work as a soldier.

The letter is written on blue paper which is torn at the bottom right corner. It has an envelope addressed to Charles B. Moore in McKinney, Collin County, Texas. The letter was started on July 12th, and Henry continued to write through at least July 15th.
