Postcard of North Stanton Street, El Paso, Texas. [Rim of Mesa in the Distance.] This is the 100 and 200 block of N Stanton Street with a north perspective of the street. The Reynolds Building is the 5 story white structure on the left side of the image. The address for the Reynolds Building is 201-5 N Stanton circa 1917. The building still stands today and was designed by the the architect firm of Trost & Trost. Built in 1911 the building was originally called Calisher's. Other names for the same building are Everybody's Department Store; the Reynolds Building; American Furniture; and J. J. Newberry Company. On the other side of the Reynolds Building is the Busy Bee Fruit Store, 200 N Stanton. The 7 story structure on the left side of Stanton Street, in the distance, is the El Paso & Southwestern Building or E P & S W. Stanton Street is full of pedestrians, horse and buggy's, cars, and two electric trolley cars. Other visible stores include Kiefer's and Tuttle Paint & Glass Company, 210-212 N Stanton. The young girl at the far right is using a wash basin. There is no information about the identities for the children in this image nor any information on the exact location of this event. This postcard was mailed by Walter Horne to his mother Mrs. Horne who was living in Hallowell, Maine.

Photographic postcard of Gaston Howard of Longview, Texas. Howard is pictured wearing his full uniform. The photograph was taken in Paris, France, as noted on the back of the postcard. Howard enlisted as a Private, and came home from the war as a Sergeant.

A handwritten note on the back of the postcard is addressed to Mr. and Mrs. J. Claude Hill in Hartford, Michigan and says, "Dear Folks, Am getting along fine. Can limp around without my crutches. I am listed as a cannoneer and will be one of this bunch on the other side when I get well enough I expect! Will write you a letter soon. Loving son [?]."

Postcard addressed to Mrs. M. M. Matlock with a photograph of an oil rig with its workers hanging out at the bottom. The note on the back of the card asks Mrs. Matlock how "the war [is] up their [sic]," and says that down there it "looks like real war some times."

Postcard Lillian to Mrs. Albert Schaenemann, thanking her for her card, saying she's having a wonderful time, and writing that she will be home on Sunday. The front of the postcard features an illustration of a man standing in a boat on a small lake. On the shore behind the man, a group of people and tall trees line a concrete ledge, looking out over the water. Behind the trees, a large field is just visible.

Postcard from E. Lucas to Lucy Dodge, discussing the safety of a boxy Lucy sent her, her own illness, and the city of Boerne, Texas. The postcard features a photograph, colored in with ink, of a driveway along the side of a tall sloping hill and the surrounding area. Further down the winding dirt drive, there is a suspension bridge across the road. The environment has lots of scrub brush and small, bushy trees.

Postcard of a bridge across a river, labeled, "International Bridge over the Rio Grande, Laredo, Texas." Several unknown buildings are visible on either end of the bridge. There is a letter on the back written 3/3/1917 that says, "Wanted to get across this bridge but on account of Typhus Epidemic on other side could not do so. Will cross at Brownsville. Wish you were along." (The epidemic mentioned was in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.)

Postcard to Linnet White from Lizzie. She wrote to give Linnet a brief update on what has been happening in life. She mentions that she has been sick, someone that had an operation recently, and hopes to hear from Linnet on how her operation went.

Handwritten text on the back reads "I received your letter in good health and hope that this card will find you the same". The postcard receiver is written to be Mr. Henry Huizen.

Postcard with an image of "The World's Finest Astride Saddle," advertising a contest with the text, "This handsom Silver and Gold mounted Astride Saddle will be given away to the Rider who sends the most orders between June first 1917 and December first 1918 by S. D. Myres, Saddlery, Sweetwater, Texas." The back of the postcard does not contain correspondence.

A colored postcard to Mr. Ed Lauderdale, Von Ormy, Texas, discussing the sender's expectation for Lauderdale's arrival. The handwriting reads, "I will expect your arrival the last of this month." The postcard has a photograph of military personnel standing in Fort Sam Houston for roll call.

Postcard from Henry Clay, Jr. to his family back home in Texas regarding his current trip across the Atlantic Ocean. Clay does not say anything of great importance in this letter but was recovering from his recent sea-sickness.
