We tried to have all members of the family who could come to be there." Turner did not care too much for living in the manison. In those days he preferred his Hereford Heaven ranch home...Shortly before Christmas, he picked up a check for $31,400,000 to build the Turner Turnpike. Ground was broken Dec. 19, 1950......The gathering included the two children, Bill and Betty; the governor's mother, Etta L. Grim; Mrs. Tirners' mother, Jessica Grim; Turner's sister, Mrs. Charles Greer, and her son, Charles. "It was a real big day," Turner recalled."
