Soils, Soil Erosion, Soil Conservation & Crop Management

Photograph of low rent housing addition in the City of Holdenville, Oklahoma. This soil is a part of the hector series of soil classification [shallow, well drained, moderately rapidly permeable soils that formed in residuum from sandstone bedrock. These soils are on nearly level to moderately steep ridgetops and steep and very steep mountain sides]. The shaping of 10 to 30% slopes to put the houses on and the steep slopes left next to the housing. This soil usually has a clay layer under the sandstone. There may be problems with this building site. OK-3663-12.
