JAMMED ATOP A TRAFFIC ISLAND,this automobile driven by David Hugh Coofey, 39, of 1801 NE 18, halted traffic at NW 6 and Classen Monday while police accident investigators called an ambulance and sent Coffey to Mercy hospital. The Driver suffered a fractured pelvis and internal injuries. His car skidded into the island after a collision with an automobile driven by Conner H. Roy Burton, 61, of 1300 NE 50. Burton was charged with failure to yield the right of way."

The driver, Mary Louise O'Dell, 25, of NW 1, and her 4-year-old son, William Arthur O'Dell, suffered body bruises. Another passenger, Rose Mae Gaulden, 5, of, of 218 N Blackwedler, suffered a broken shoulder. Police said the car was involved in an accident with one driven by Ernest Davenport, 45, of 33 S Indiana. No charges were filed."
