He recalls how his ancestors came to Srinagar and settled there. Transcription: Retelling of Maghlot and Girkits
Transcription and translation of the recording of Raja Jamsheed Ali Khan narrating the story of "Maghlot ke Girkits" ('weasel and rat') in the Srinagar dialect. In this popular story two boys are born conjoined, and are separated by a knife. The two brothers are raised by two separate clans, always meeting in constant contention with each other, giving them the nicknames Maghlot ('weasel') and Girkits ('rat') for their physical and behavioral traits. Knowing the brothers would create instability, the king separates the kingdom into two halves, creating the divide between the Hunza and the Nagar people

Retelling of Baadil Jamaal
Recording of the shorter version of Laila Khan reciting the story of “Baadil Jamaal” in the Hunza dialect of Burushaski. In this popular story there is a king with seven sons, and he promises the sons that when they are to marry, he will let them marry whoever they wish. One son then travels to the side of a mountain where he lost his arrow, and meets an otherworldly woman named Baadil Jamaal. He insisted that he would not leave unless she married him, and he waited for a hundred years, and his family, missed him very much. One day Baadil Jamaal agreed to be the prince’s bride, and they went back to the kingdom, where the fairy restored the youth of the King and his wife.
