From Abstract: "In the past 60 years considerable data have been accumulated concerning the mechanical properties of copper and its alloys.It was felt that there was great need to adequately document these results in one publication. Therefore a unique type of compilation is presented. The compilation is divided into four parts. The first section is intended for quick reference use for those who are interested in average values. The second section includes data from most of the investigators who have published results on the mechanical properties of copper and its alloys. The third section is composed of tables classifying the investigations which were not in section two. The fourth section section lists, in alphabetical order, all references used."

Report combining National Bureau of Standards Monograph 27 with the references given in Supplement 1 (May 13, 1963) and issued as a single publication to assist users of this material. References concern the field of temperature measurement. These references were collected from two general sources: Scientific and technical literature and government reports. References are divided into a number of categories based on the type of instrument used. Some references to calibration of instruments and to scientific theories upon which temperature measurement is based are also presented.

This report is concerned with that part of the Texas Water Project located in the Cypress Creek and Sulphur River Basins and within the New Orleans District (NOD) of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. The geological reconnaissance reported herein was performed for the NOD to provide a basis for estimating costs and determining the feasibility of construction of 5 dams and reservoirs, 1 tunnel, 15 pump stations, and about 110 miles of transmission channel and the enlargement of 2 existing reservoirs.

From Abstract: "Optical Properties of U.S. coals of differing rank have been investigated by the Bureau of Mines for about 20 years. These investigations have been made to further the development of an objective basis for petrographic analysis of coal and to add knowledge of the structure and composition of coal and coal components by determining their optical constants in various regions of electromagnetic spectrum."

Report discussing the transient magnetic behavior of a paramagnetic substance, after an initial disturbance, considered theoretically for a variety of situations in which the lattice temperature rises as a result of energy flow from the magnetic (electron spin) system. Next, the opposite extreme is considered - that in which the resonant and remaining modes are totally uncoupled. Finally, there is a consideration of the case of spins coupled only to the resonant phonons, which in turn are coupled to a constant temperature bath, whether this be the helium or the remaining modes.

Report discussing microwave attenuation measurement methods and standards. In addition, a relatively new and more precise way of representing and analyzing an attenuation measurement is presented. This in turn permits more rigorous definitions and error analyses than were previously possible. The referral of microwave attenuation measurements to standards operating at lower frequencies is discussed with particular attention to the errors in the referral processes as well as the errors in the standards themselves. Desirable characteristics are listed for attenuators which are suitable for calibration. Measurement methods are classified and described. Comments are made on the accuracy and convenience of various methods, and references are given which cover most of the basic and important research in this field. Report from the U.S. Bureau of mines discussing the use of infared and ultraviolet-visible spectrometry to study the structure of coal and coal extracts.

From Introduction: "In connection with the overall research by the Bureau of Mines on the nature of coal and its products, and extensive investigation was conducted on the composition of the resins from pitch of low-temperature tar. The pitch resin is that material in pitch or tar that is insoluble in saturated hydrocarbon solvents. It varies in appearance from a dark brown semisolid to a black, granular solid."

Report describing the application of conventional cost experience to physical features of source of supply, treatment, pumping, transmission, distribution, and storage for community water supply sources. Some costs due to readily removable water quality characteristics like suspended solids, color, taste, and order are measurable, as are other conventional costs of operation and maintenance. Other costs related to an excess of dissolved solids, however, tend to be unknown and are the subject of this study.
