Map to Illustrate War with Mexico
This sheet contains two principal maps and a series of ancillary maps. The left half of the page contains a "Map to Illustrate War With Mexico" which uses colors to shade the areas delineating Mexico, the United States, and the territory acquired from Mexico by the United States. U.S. states are also outlined and labeled. Major cities, bodies of water, and geographic features are marked (with relief shown by hachures). There are two insets in the lower left corner titles "Vicinity of Matamoras" and "Route of Gen. Scott between Vera Cruz and Mexico." The right half of the page contains a "Map to Illustrate the War of 1812-1814" (top portion) as well as "Wars Against Indians 1790 and 1811" (centered within the bottom portion). There are also five ancillary maps around central map titled "Vicinity of Detroit," "Niagara River and Vicinity," "Vicinity of Plattsburg," "Southern Region of the War 1812-14." and "Vicinity of Baltimore" which seem to pertain to the top map of the War of 1812. Americans who did not wait: the American Legion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, 1915-1917
This study examines the five American Legion battalions of the Canadian Expeditionary Force formed in 1915 specifically to recruit American volunteers for the Canadian overseas contingent of the First World War. This study reviews the organization of Canada's militia and Anglo-American relations before examining the formation of the American Legion, the background of its men, and the diplomatic repercussions it sparked. This study is based largely on material in the Public Archives of Canada including war records and the personal papers of several participants. During its brief existence, the American Legion precipitated constitutional, diplomatic, and political problems. The issues the American Legion raised were mostly solved by America's entry in the war. The episode hastened the maturity of Canada as a nation.

Oral History Interview with Aaron C. Kulow
The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Aaron C. Kulow. Kulow grew up in Michigan and enlisted in the Navy in 1942. After training, he joined the ship USS Pollux AKS-4 at Norfolk, Virginia. Initially the ship runs trips down to the Carribbean and Brazil but in 1943 is fitted with radar and sent to the Pacific Theater. In the Pacific, the general stores issue ship visited Australia, New Guinea, the Admiralty Islands, and the New Hebrides Islands. He then returned to San Francisco in 1944 where his wife met him to get married. He left for the Pacific again and in 1945 traveled to the Philippines. In 1945 Kulow met survivors of the Bataan Death March that had been liberated. He remembers going to a friend's burial in the Philippines. On V-J Day Kulow was at Manila Harbor. He left for America in October 1945 and was discharged in New York December 12, 1945.
