This dissertation examines Cassell's theory of purchasing power parity within the context of post-World War II foreign exchange markets and government policies.

This study endeavors to give an insight into the causes and characteristics of price fluctuations of spot cotton at New York, N.Y., for the period 1911-1953, and to indicate whenever possible the factors which caused the price of cotton to rise or fall during selected periods.

The purpose of this study is to make a survey of the opportunities in the business world for the woman college graduate. Attention has been given to the general status of women workers, the training given by colleges in business administration, and the opportunities for the employment and advancement in the business world.

The purpose of this investigation is to explore the policies of the government of British India and of the independent Republic of India relative to their impact on organizational structure, management practices and styles, and management education in business organizations in India. The British, who were responsible for the growth of some of the organized industries in India, also gave the country, among other things, a modern educational system. They left India, however, with a limited industrial base. There was a serious shortage of professional managers to meet the demands of growing industry. Upon independence, the national government through its policies encouraged the development of business and industries and brought awareness among business managers of the importance of management education.

The purposes of this study are: (1) to analyze the military system of education and discipline developed and employed by the preparatory institutions of the United States which combine military training with academic training; (2) to show that the military system of education compares favorably with that offered in secondary schools; and (3) that certain distinctive features are present in the military system of education and that these features are worthy of careful consideration by parent and student.

The purpose of this study is to show which incomes of the selected trades and professions have more nearly approached a parallel to the changing cost of living during the period January 1, 1936, to December 31, 1945.

The problems of this research report were threefold: 1. To trace the history of the unionization of engineers from its inception to the present time. 2. To present the arguments of those individuals and groups who practice and favor engineering unionization, and to set fort the counter-arguments of those individuals and groups who reject unionization for engineers. 3. To summarize the facts and opinions discovered and, in view of these findings, to draw conclusions on the merits and the trend of engineering unionization.

This report consists of a presentation of prices paid for the various classifications and grades of cattle sold in the Fort Worth Livestock Market during 1952; a comparison of 1951-1952 prices showing a sharp decline in the price of all grades and classifications which began in June of 1952; and an examination of some of the major factors contributing to the decline in cattle prices as reflected in the Livestock Market, Fort Worth, Texas. From a study of cattle prices that prevailed in the Fort Worth market during 1951 and 1952, and a consideration of some of the factors contributing thereto, the following conclusions are drawn: First, prices of all grades of cattle soared to unusually high levels during 1951, thereby accentuating the drop in price which occurred in the latter part of 1952. Second, the withholding of cattle from slaughter, during a cattle build-up process, rather than a scarcity of cattle in this country was primarily responsible for extremely high prices in 1951. The purpose of this study is to trace the growth and development of the commercial curricula in the secondary schools of Texas and to relate the changes in aims and objectives of such curricula in such a way that a reading of it will furnish a concise, definite, and clear understanding of what has happened in the past.

The automobile dealership is one of the more important types of small business. The operation of such a business is an integral part of the economy of the country, and conditions existing in the automobile field are usually fairly representative of those in other types of small business; therefore, the general personnel policies of an automobile dealership are basically similar to personnel policies of other small businesses in the distributive field. A study of personnel policies in this field will be of some use to anyone interested in the problems of small business.

This study is concerned with discovering relationships between community power structures and economic growth. The economic growth in selected Northeast Texas counties and their major cities is compared with the power structures in each of these communities during the 1944 through 1968 period.

An attempt was made to determine the most popular features of stock plans from both company and union viewpoint, and where possible, to gain recommendations leading to the formulation of more efficient and more popular plans.

The problem with which this study is concerned is that of the selection of those persons in an industrial organization who are most likely to become effective and successful foremen on the production line and of developing these persons into well-rounded, successful industrial foremen. The purpose of this study is to determine some of the major traits and qualifications which a man should possess if he is to become a successful foreman in industry.

This dissertation examines the role of the fundamental economic variables (price levels, interest rates, and income levels) in the determination of foreign exchange rates during the period 1973-1978. Purchasing power parity, the International Fisher Effect, and the relationship of exchange rates with income levels through the marginal propensity to import were integrated, as suggested by the literature, and a fairly reasonable specification of a model for exchange rate determination was measured. The results of speculation tests indicate destabilizing results for some currencies and stabilizing results for the others; the coefficient of expectation tests, however, lend support to the destabilizing hypothesis. The conclusion of the research, therefore, is that the exchange rates of the major industrial countries which are of prime importance to the international financier and investor, and to the student of international finance and trade, are primarily determined, not by the fundamental economic variables, but by speculative forces which are believed to be of a destabilizing nature.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the operational equipment in current use at the Marshall Pottery Company and make a comparison of this equipment and modern, up-to-date equipment available and in use by other manufacturers. An attempt was made to formulate a long-range plan for developing and modernizing basic production processes and facilities at the Marshall Pottery Company.
