From introduction: The aim of this paper is to present the substance of what is known concerning the distribution, occurrence, and development of the oil and gas of the quadrangle, and to note briefly the more important industries growing out of these natural resources or depending on them within the territory considered.

This report follows mineral-resource surveys taken at Barbours Creek and Shawvers Run Wilderness study areas in Craig County, Virginia. This report provides the findings of these studies, mineral deposits primarily.

From abstract: The construction stone industry comprises two major branches-dimension stone and crushed and broken stone. For purposes of geologic appraisal, deposits of these two categories should be treated separately, because they differ widely in use, mode of development, and exploitation. Deposits of dimension stones are subjected to much greater selectivity with respect to physical properties, uniformity, and modes of occurrence; these demand a much more critical and detailed study of geologic and mineralogic features.

From Abstract: "This bulletin is a summary of present knowledge of the adsorbent or bleaching clays-their distribution, field and laboratory identification, physical and chemical properties, uses, quality, and value. Problems in the drying, treating with acids, and washing are discussed, and methods of testing and rating decolorizing efficiency are described."

From abstract: The area in the vicinity of the West Fork of the Chulitna River, Alaska, one of those examined in 1931 in connection with the study of mineral resources in districts tributary to the Alaska Railroad, contains numerous prospects but, as yet, no productive mines. Its placer deposits are negligible but some of its lodes may prove valuable for gold and silver and perhaps also for copper and arsenic.

While such a report can have no permanent value, other than as a record of mining conditions during the year, it is believed that its prompt publication will help the mining industry of Alaska.

From introduction: This report contains information concerning the geology of Big Horn County and the Crow Indian Reservation and their resources in ground water, coal, oil, and gas. These facts were collected in the course of studies for about a dozen field projects, which ranged in character from reconnaissance studies of large areas to very detailed mapping of certain tracts to show the occurrence of oil and gas. Consequently, the information at hand, either as to the geology or the resources, is not equally complete and definite for all parts.

From abstract: The McAlester district is an area of about 477 square miles in Pittsburg, Atoka, and Latimer Counties, Okla. It lies entirely within the Arkansas Valley geomorphic province except for the extreme northwest corner, which is crossed by the easternmost cuesta of the Osage Plains province.
