Text summary has become a vital and more popular domain to preserve and highlight the core purpose of textual information as the amount of online information and resource texts has grown. Text summarization is the task of extracting key information from a text document. Text summarizing research in Afaan Oromoo is still rare and hasn't been thoroughly assessed. This study's primary goal was to evaluate the performance and method of extractive models on automatic extractive text summarization for Afaan Oromoo. Automatic Text summarization approaches can be classified as extractive or abstractive. Automatic abstractive text summarization was not included in this study. Existing automatic extractive text summarizing algorithms take key sentences from the source manuscript and provide a summary without changing the data. This paper examined and assessed some studies on the Afaan Oromoo Language Text Summarization system with a focus on methods and performance. In addition, the automatic extractive text summarization domain's challenges in Afaan Oromoo’s were also discussed. An Optimized Control System for the Independent Control of the Inputs of Doherty Power Amplifier

This thesis presents an optimized drive signal control system for a 2.5 GHz Doherty power amplifier (PA). The designed system enables independent control of the amplitudes and phases of the drive signals fed to the inputs of two parallel PAs. This control system is demonstrated here for Doherty PA architecture with a combiner network which is used as an impedance inversion between the path of two parallel connected PAs. Independent control of the inputs is achieved by incorporating a variable attenuator (VA) and a variable phase shifter (VPS) in each of the two parallel paths. Integrating VA and VPS allows driving varying power levels with an arbitrary phase difference between the individual parallel PAs. A Combiner network consists of a quarter-wave transmission line at the output of the main power amplifier, which is used to invert the impedance between the main and peaking transistor. The specific VA (Qorvo QPC6614) and VPS (Qorvo QPC2108) components that are used for the test system provide an amplitude attenuation range from 0.5 dB to 31.5 dB with a step size of 0.5 dB and a phase range from 0◦ to 360◦ for a step size of 5.6◦at the intended operating frequency of 2.5 GHz, …

III Corps during the Surge Campaign: Operational Art and Counterinsurgency Myths

The role of Odierno's III Corps as MNC-I has failed to receive sufficient attention from studies of the 2007-2008 surge of U.S. forces in Iraq. However, was Odierno's employment of military force in time, space, and purpose based on the logic of conventional military operations that laid the groundwork for the successes gained in 2007 and 2008. III Corps's achievements as an operational headquarters were rooted in the successful application of operational art. Operational art is a way to conceptualize how to fight wars using campaigns of multiple, simultaneous, and successive operations across a theater of operations to achieve a unifying goal. While neither downplaying nor minimizing the importance of Army COIN principles, a study of MNC-I's December 2006-February 2008 campaign in Iraq through the neglected prism of operational art suggests that the campaign's success was due to the successful application of already established operational principles rather than from a revolution in the profession of arms.

Curation Subscription Box Services: Implications for the Pet Industry

This study aims to understand customers' preferred attributes and features of curated subscription box services (CSBS) for pet products and to segment customer groups by favored attributes and features to optimize the CSBS. First, a pretest with 46 students at a southwestern public university in the U.S. was implemented to explore customers' preferences on attributes and features in the subscription service. Choice-based conjoint (CBC) analysis was employed in the challenging tradeoff situations after MaxDiff (best-worst scaling) evaluation. Next, the main study was conducted using the survey method with 350 American pet owners recruited by the commercial data platform called Prolific. The preference of five CSBS attributes (i.e., product, personalization, e-service quality, communication and interaction, and price) and 18 related features were examined. Cluster analysis for the 350 respondents identified customer segment groups based on their CSBS preferences derived from the conjoint analysis. The results of this study support that customers prioritized price, product, and personalization attributes in their CSBS choice. The three groups are product-oriented, personalization-oriented, and price-favored segments. Oral History Interview with Walter Gallagher, July 21, 2022

The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Walter Gallagher. Gallagher joined the Navy after quitting high school and trained in aviation ordnance. In May, 1944 he was assigned to USS Franklin (CV-13) where he would arm dive bombers. Gallagher describes an injury he sustained while loading bombs as well as various enemy attacks on the Franklin, including a kamikaze. He was aboard when the Japanese bombed the Franklin in March, 1945. Gallagher recalls the attack and was ordered to transfer to USS Santa Fe (CL-60). From there, Gallagher spent six months at Hawaii before going back to the US.

Infinity Maps as a Visual Knowledge Management Platform – Concept and Use Cases

The iMapping technique is a visual knowledge mapping approach that is based on deep zooming and nesting and that unites the essential benefits of virtual whiteboards, mind maps and concept maps. To achieve that, it breaks the physical page metaphor and introduces an infinitely zoomable, nested canvas, to create large scalable knowledge spaces. It has been originally developed and scientifically evaluated in the context of personal knowledge management only. Infinity Maps is the state-of-the art successor of the iMapping Tool: A cloud based visual knowledge and productivity platform. It not only fully implements the visual iMapping approach but takes it to the next level, by adding real-time collaboration and sharing functionality – thus also adding the benefit of wikis. This has enabled knowledge workers to create shared knowledge spaces with hitherto unseen depth. Nested Maps with thousands of individual cards, 10 and more levels of hierarchy and zoom-factors of one to several thousand are normal. With this paper, we want to introduce Infinity Maps to the knowledge management community and showcase some real-life examples of visual Knowledge Management, from personal research over teaching and learning to corporate knowledge management.

Autonomic Zero Trust Framework for Network Protection

With the technological improvements, the number of Internet connected devices is increasing tremendously. We also observe an increase in cyberattacks since the attackers want to use all these interconnected devices for malicious intention. Even though there exist many proactive security solutions, it is not practical to run all the security solutions on them as they have limited computational resources and even battery operated. As an alternative, Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) has become popular is because it defines boundaries and requires to monitor all events, configurations, and connections and evaluate them to enforce rejecting by default and accepting only if they are known and accepted as well as applies a continuous trust evaluation. In addition, we need to be able to respond as quickly as possible, which cannot be managed by human interaction but through autonomous computing paradigm. Therefore, in this work, we propose a framework that would implement ZTA using autonomous computing paradigm. Heat Transfer Analysis of Bio-Printed Tissue Mimicking Material Mixed with Silver Nanoparticles

Novel tissue mimicking materials have been developed for cancer treatment research. In the present research work, the tissue mimicking material is printed using 3D bioprinting technology. The nanoparticles are homogeneously mixed with tissue mimicking materials to enhance the heating capacity. The thermal conductivity of tissue mimicking materials is measured using a micropipette thermal sensor (MTS). Further, the optimal value is identified based on optimization technique and incorporated into a theoretical model to predict the surface temperature of microsphere. The heat conduction governing equation with Lambert law is numerically solved using COMSOL Multiphysics software. To validate the present simulation results, the experiments are conducted using a continuous laser system.

Students' Perceptions of Learning Environment and Achievement with Augmented Reality Technology

The purpose of the study was to examine the impact of using AR in the Computer Architecture unit for male 11th grade students in a school in the eastern area of Arar City in Saudi Arabia through monitoring its impact on student achievement and students' perceptions of the learning environment. Two research questions are explored: What is the effect of using AR on student achievement, and what are students' perceptions of the learning environment when they use AR? Two instruments were used to collect the data in this study: an achievement test taken from the official teacher book issued by the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia and the Technology-Rich Outcomes-Focused Learning Environment Inventory (TROFLEI) modified questionnaire "actual form." Statistical analyses employed to answer the first research question included an independent-samples t-test and descriptive statistics. To investigate the second research question, descriptive statistics and a paired t-test were used. These results from the first question indicate a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) between the two groups' mean values: the students who used AR achieved a higher level of learning compared to the students who learned in the traditional way. Registration of Point Sets with Large and Uneven Non-Rigid Deformation

Non-rigid point set registration of significantly uneven deformations is a challenging problem for many applications such as pose estimation, three-dimensional object reconstruction, human movement tracking. In this dissertation, we present a novel probabilistic non-rigid registration method to align point sets with significantly uneven deformations by enforcing constraints from corresponding key points and preserving local neighborhood structures. The registration method is treated as a density estimation problem. Incorporating correspondence among key points regulates the optimization process for large, uneven deformations. In addition, by leveraging neighborhood embedding using Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (SNE) as well as an alternative means based on Locally Linear Embedding (LLE), our method penalizes the incoherent transformation and hence preserves the local structure of point sets. Also, our method detects key points in the point sets based on geodesic distance. Correspondences are established using a new cluster-based, region-aware feature descriptor. This feature descriptor encodes the association of a cluster to the left-right (symmetry) or upper-lower regions of the point sets. We conducted comparison studies using public point sets and our Human point sets.
