JAZELLE users manual (open access)

JAZELLE users manual

JAZELLE is a data management package, designed to provide facilities for data structure manipulation considerably more powerful than those provided by standard FORTRAN 77. Since JAZELLE is built on top of FORTRAN it cannot hope to provide the level of integration between program design and data structure typical of more modern languages, but by the use of data structure definitions (called TEMPLATES in JAZELLE jargon) and the power of MORTRAN macros, JAZELLE attempts to make the use and manipulation of data structures within programs as unobtrusive as possible.

Radmodl Modeling Manual (open access)

Radmodl Modeling Manual

RADMODL is a set of computer codes that model the transport of material through a network of interconnected compartments. This version of RADMODL is designed to model the transport of radioactive material from either a loss of coolant accident (LOCA) or a fuel handling accident into a set of interconnected compartments and determine the equivalent dose each compartment will see for the duration of the accident. The code is flexible enough to allow modeling of other types of materials and their dilution/dispersion during transport by designing a new set of input files corresponding to the facility layout and the dilution/dispersion factors. This report documents the issuance of the Modeling Manual, originally developed by EGS Corporation and ISSI as volume 1 of the Programmer`s Manual, with the incorporation of minor editorial comments. Though a Modeling Manual in itself is not required for the RADMODL code certification, this manual does contain information that is required for the one of the requirements for code User`s Manual and hence certification.

Colloid transport code-nuclear user`s manual (open access)

Colloid transport code-nuclear user`s manual

This report describes the CTCN computer code, designed to solve the equations of transient colloidal transport of radionuclides in porous and fractured media. This Fortran 77 package solves systems of coupled nonlinear differential equations with a wide range of boundary conditions. The package uses the Method of Lines technique with a special section which forms finite-difference discretizations in up to four spatial dimensions to automatically convert the system into a set of ordinary differential equations. The CTCN code then solves these equations using a robust, efficient ODE solver. Thus CTCN can be used to solve population balance equations along with the usual transport equations to model colloid transport processes or as a general problem solver to treat up to four-dimensional differential systems.

Transuranic waste characterization sampling and analysis methods manual. Revision 1

This Methods Manual provides a unified source of information on the sampling and analytical techniques that enable Department of Energy (DOE) facilities to comply with the requirements established in the current revision of the Transuranic Waste Characterization Quality Assurance Program Plan (QAPP) for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) Transuranic (TRU) Waste Characterization Program (the Program) and the WIPP Waste Analysis Plan. This Methods Manual includes all of the testing, sampling, and analytical methodologies accepted by DOE for use in implementing the Program requirements specified in the QAPP and the WIPP Waste Analysis Plan. The procedures in this Methods Manual are comprehensive and detailed and are designed to provide the necessary guidance for the preparation of site-specific procedures. With some analytical methods, such as Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry, the Methods Manual procedures may be used directly. With other methods, such as nondestructive characterization, the Methods Manual provides guidance rather than a step-by-step procedure. Sites must meet all of the specified quality control requirements of the applicable procedure. Each DOE site must document the details of the procedures it will use and demonstrate the efficacy of such procedures to the Manager, National TRU Program Waste Characterization, during Waste Characterization and Certification audits.

National Synchrotron Light Source user`s manual: Guide to the VUV and x-ray beamlines. Fifth edition

The success of the National Synchrotron Light Source is based, in large part, on the size of the user community and the diversity of the scientific and technical disciplines represented by these users. As evidence of this success, the VUV Ring has just celebrated its 10th anniversary and the X-ray Ring will do the same in 1995. In order to enhance this success, the NSLS User`s Manual: Guide to the VUV and X-Ray Beamlines - Fifth Edition, is being published. This Manual presents to the scientific community-at-large the current and projected architecture, capabilities and research programs of the various VUV and X-ray beamlines. Also detailed is the research and computer equipment a General User can expect to find and use at each beamline when working at the NSLS. The Manual is updated periodically in order to keep pace with the constant changes on these beamlines.

A nonlinear, implicit, three-dimensional finite element code for solid and structural mechanics - User`s Manual (open access)

A nonlinear, implicit, three-dimensional finite element code for solid and structural mechanics - User`s Manual

This report provides a user`s manual for NIKE3D, a fully implicit three-dimensional finite element code for analyzing the finite strain static and dynamic response of inelastic solids, shells, and beams. Spatial discretization is achieved by the use of 8-node solid elements, 2-node truss and beam elements, and 4-node membrane and shell elements. Over twenty constitutive models are available for representing a wide range of elastic, plastic, viscous, and thermally dependent material behavior. Contact-impact algorithms permit gaps, frictional sliding, and mesh discontinuities along material interfaces. Several nonlinear solution strategies are available, including Full-, Modified-, and Quasi-Newton methods. The resulting system of simultaneous linear equations is either solved iteratively by an element-by-element method, or directly by a factorization method, for which case bandwidth minimization is optional. Data may be stored either in or out of core memory to allow for large analyses.
