Oral History Interview with Robert Owensby

The National Museum of the Pacific War presents a monologue by Robert Owensby. Owensby joined the Marine Corps in 1944. He served as a rifleman and assistant bazooka operator with the 4th Marine Division, 24th Marines, C Company. Owensby participated in the Battle of Iwo Jima, and was wounded in action in March of 1945. He later served in the Northern Marianas in mop-up operations with the 6th Military Police Battalion, escorting remaining Japanese troops holding out on the islands. He was discharged in 1946.
