Kitts shares concerning his childhood and family history in Sulphur Springs, Texas; college at the University of Texas during the Depression; musical background; enlistment in the U.S. Navy shortly after the attack at Pearl Harbor; midshipman school in New York City and selection for sonar school in Key West, Florida; assignment to USS Mason, the first ship in the navy with an integrated crew; post-war duty as commanding officer of USS Hollis and USS Tollberg; role in establishing Naval Reserve Training Center in Lubbock, Texas; reactivation to active duty during Korean War; and his post-military career at Vought Aeronautics.

Interview with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Albin, who have been resident farmers in the town of Taft, Texas for a number of years. In the interview, the Albin's describe their observations on land speculation, settlement, and development around the rural town. They also talk about when they first moved to Taft in 1910, and what agrarian life was like until the 1930's. The Albin's discuss Mexican-Anglo relations in the community as well as the rise and impacts of the Ku Klux Klan.

Hill discusses growing up in Pittsfield and the layout of the communities there, her family history, school, attending the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, working at Harvard, marrying Hugh, festivities on the Cambridge commons, Blue's storytelling career, and her career working on African-American history projects. In appendix are 3 photos of Mrs. Hill.

Interview with Michael Hurd, a journalist and member of the Texas Black History Preservation Project from Houston, Texas. Hurd discusses growing up in Texarkana and Houston, his education and service in the Air Force, work with the Houston Post and USA Today, Juneteenth, researching black history, the Texas Black History Preservation Project and related efforts, being an historian, the history of Juneteenth and emancipation in Texas, and civil rights. In appendix are photographs of Hurd, clippings of his reporting, and URLs to videos he was involved in.

Waybourn discusses his early life and education, his work in journalism, his partner, the Dallas Times Herald, his family, working for Market Center, the relationship between the gay community and Dallas community figureheads, the Dallas Gay Alliance, the Dallas "gayborhood," Texas Penal Code 21.06 (the "homosexual conduct" law), police harassment, the Fifth Circuit Court, the AIDS epidemic, fighting medical discrimination, the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, and reflections on his career.

Interview with A. E. Miller, a United States Navy veteran from Smithville, Texas. Miller recollects his experiences aboard the cruiser the USS Helena during the Japanese attack there and on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Interview with Navy veteran M. J. Cotter. The interview includes Anderson's personal experiences while aboard the battleship USS Maryland during the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Interview with Travis Womack Jr., a Army WWII veteran from Marshall, Texas, who served with the 307th Airborne Engineer Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division. Womack discusses his family, education, basic and airborne training, deployment to Morocco and movement through North Africa, the invasion of Sicily, the Battle of San Pietro, the Anzio campaign, going to England, marrying, fighting in Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge, disguised German troops, and the end of the war. In appendix is a detailed account of the Italian campaign written by Womack.

Interview with businessman Howard Baxter about his experiences while employed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. Baxter discusses his childhood near Aubrey, Texas; joining the CCC; assignment to a camp at White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas (Company 2896); description of camp; life in camp.

Interview with Howard L. Baxter, a farmer and former member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Tom Bean, Texas, regarding his experiences and memories of participating in the CCC during the Great Depression. It includes an appendix with a poem about "The CCC Boys" by Iva Hathaway.

Tison also discusses the racial integration of Weatherford schools, his career as interim superintendent at various North Texas ISDs, and his experience as mayor. Interview with Wilhelmina R. Fitzgerald Delco, former member of the Texas House of Representatives (D-Austin). The interview includes Delco's personal experiences about childhood and education, marriage to Exalton A. Delco, Jr., being involved in community issues, running for the Austin Independent School District Board of Trustees, her 1974 election to the Texas House of Representatives seat representing Travis County, and serving as Speaker Pro Tem of the House. Additionally, Delco speaks about her family's involvement in Chicago politics, the difficulty of desegregating Austin schools in a manner that shared resources equitably with all groups, serving on the Committee on Public Education and Committee on Higher Education, being involved in the National Conference of State Legislatures, including efforts to encourage divestiture from apartheid-South Africa, as well as her involvement in efforts to reform the Texas higher education funding system and her commitment to education as her life's work.

In the interview, Mrs. Sparks describes her early life when she first came to Portland with her parents. She also discusses what it was like to live an agrarian lifestyle in the small community. Mrs. Sparks shares her observations on land speculation, settlement, and development around Sinton and Portland throughout the years.

Interview with Mrs. Dick Gerdes, a resident of Sinton, Texas. Gerdes discusses her family's origins in Alabama prior to settling the Sinton area, life in the town in the early 20th century, and the Ku Klux Klan's presence in the town at the time.
