[Danevang Band at City-Garage]

Photograph of a group of people standing in front of an establishment known as "City-Garage" at El Campo, Texas. The store itself seems to have served multiple purposes, as advertisements on its front facade give notice to welding, grocery, and gasoline products. There at least three automobiles in front of the store, with one car in the center right bearing various business names on its body. The group of people involved in the band have mostly concentrated on the right side, with a few others seen carrying instruments on the left side. These individuals wear musician hats; others are in full uniform. A line of children in the foreground can be seen on the left side. They are barefoot and the majority of the boys wear jumpsuits. A piece of paper on the top left corner lists some names, but they have not been matched to individual people.

Louise Petersen

Bust portrait photograph of an elder woman identified as Louise Petersen. She wears cat-eye glasses, a pearl necklace and matching earring, and a lightweight, dark-colored jacket. Her hair is coiffed upwards and parted on the left. Accompanying information states that, "Mrs. Verner Petersen, nee Louise Olson, a native of Danevang, was the organist in Danevang Lutheran Church, continually [during] 1950-1964. Mrs. Petersen was instrumental in acquiring a teacher of organ music, Mr. Anthony Rahe of Houston, Texas, to come to Danevang once a week over a period of time to give lessons to herself and her young assistants - Jeanne Swendsen, Elsie Swendsen, and Wanda Swendsen - who were all students in El Campo High School."

Danevang Danish Singers

They too hold red pieces of paper. They have been identified, from left to right, as Fred Swendsen, Andrew Enemark Berndt, Pastor Eric Moller, and Otto Harton. The top of a Christmas tree is behind them, as well as a drop-down projection screen, a green wreath, and a clock off to the left.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Westerholm (Astrid)

Mrs. Westerholm wears glasses and a jacket with embroidery detail on her lapel. Mr. Westerholm also wears glasses, as well as a suit jacket and polka-dot tie. Accompanying information states that, "Mrs. Astrid Westerholm was the organist in Danevang Lutheran Church in 1939-1942. She played on alternationg[sic] Sundays with Emil Svensson and Mrs. Viggo Andersen at some time during her tenure. The organ at that time was a reed organ that had to be pumped to make music. Since there were numerous young fellows in the congregation, each was assigned a specific Sunday to fulfill this obligation. Most of them remember it well. In later years, Carl Lerager offered to pump the organ every Sunday as his contribution to the church. His offer was cheerfully accepted."
