A North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts newsletter for the Winter 1993, Vol. 4 No. 1. The newsletter features an article, "Picturing DBAE," discipline-based art education. The purpose of this newsletter is to describe the instructional approach to art also known as discipline-based art education, as it if often seemed like an overwhelming process to both art and classroom teachers. Included in the newsletter is a breakdown of the four foundational disciplines that make up DBAE, art production, art history, art criticism and aesthetics.

Superintendent John Grigsby says with such grown and improvement in all areas the district is involved in a comprehensive study of future building improvements. The school board hired Dallas architect Bob Osborne to survey the current facilities and make recommendations on improvements to fit the needs of the students, teachers and administrators. Pilot Points ISD success stems from contributing factors such as being a consortium member of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, a group devoted to research and development of discipline-based art education.

An Evaluation Report for the NTIEVA Summer Institute put together by Dr. Joan Bush for submission to the Texas Commission on the Arts. There are 8 separate sections of assessments and tables including classification of different participant groups, number of institutes attended, summaries of responses to questionnaires, and the mean responses to distance learning questions. At the end is a factsheet, a collection of newsletters and articles covering the program.

A North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts newsletter for the Spring 1993, Vol. 4 No. 2. The newsletter features an article,"1993 Summer Institute Set For June 14 - 25," the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts holds a summer institute to train more than 300 educators in discipline-based art education which purpose is to be implemented in the public school curriculum. Included in the newsletter is a structure of how the districts will be separated during the five separate but simultaneous institutes.
