Criminal intelligence report addressed to Captain W. P. Gannaway of the Special Service Bureau in Dallas, Texas. The report, which was submitted by detective D. N. Boyd, states that Anthony G. Rizzo was arrested for not having a rear license plate or valid driver's license. Rizzo stated that he has been a friend of Jack Ruby for a number of years.

Intelligence report addressed to Captain W. P. Gannaway of the Dallas Police Department. The report, which was submitted by T. T. Wardlaw, states that a copy of Jack Ruby's notebook is attached. The notebook contains the names of exotic dancers, musicians, and other individuals.

The reactions of rocks and soils to large explosions are discussed. Several experimerts planned to measure ground motion produced by chemical and nuclear explosions in sotl and in rock are described. The discussions are confined chiefly to those portions of the force field, which are most likely to be of concern to shelter design and construction. Both underground and low- altitude above-surface explosions were considered. (M.G.C.)

Development of nuclear reactor cores having high power density, long fuel life, and low fabrication costs is the objective of this program sponsored by the AEC. Five tasks are in progress: (1) Task 1A-High Power Density Fuel Development. The number of assemblies has been reduced to seven as a result of the failure of two pellet fuel assemblies. The average burnup of the group operating as of September 1 is 7500 MWD/T. (2) Task 1B-Fuel Fabrication Development. Assembly. Assembly 12S gave positive signals of being a leaker under the multi-type in-core sampler and was declared failed based on the in-core results and visual observation of a cracked rod. Modifications to the instrumented fuel assembly probes were made by removing the failed flow meter rotors to allow continued use of the flux detectors and thermocouples. Flux detectors and thermocouples performed properly after reactor start up. Flux wire tubes were found to be kinked such that their use was prohibited. (3) Task II-Stability, Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow. A series of noise recordings of fluxes, flows, and temperatures has been made at 91 MWt at the Big Rock Point plant. The objectives of an oxide core destructive test program at the Spert I reactor facility are reviewed. The proposed experimental program of destructive tests on a low-enriched oxide core, the experimental results of nondestructive transient tests that were obtained on the test core and the extrapolation of these results to the destructive case, an analysis of the hazards involved in performing such destructive tests, and a detailed description of the reactor facility and environmental conditions are presented. The supervision and control of personnel during and after each destructive test, and of the plans for reentry, cleanup, and restoration of the facility are discussed. The water- moderated core that will be used for these experiments is mounted in the Spert I open-type reactor vessel, which has no provision for pressurization or forced coolant flow. The core is comprised of approximately 600 4%-enriched UO/sub 2/ fuel rods clad with stainless steel, and four blade-type, gang-operated control rods for reactor control. Reactor transients are initiated at ambient temperature by step-insertions of reactivity, using for this purpose a special control rod that can be quickly ejected from the core.
