Kitchen-Cabinet.

Patent for a kitchen-cabinet that is a "simple and convenient portable device provided with the necessary receptacles for flour, meal, spices and other condiments, as well as apparatus for grinding coffee, beating eggs, weighing, &c.; to provide means for adjusting such receptacles upon the frame of the cabinet to secure the desired height or distance from the floor; and furthermore to provide improved means for removing the flour and meal from the bins and sifting the same by the same operation" (line 9-20).

Hood County Jailhouse, Historic Plaque

Photograph of a historic plaque at the Hood County Jailhouse. It reads: "Second County Jail. Celebrated in early local ballad. Build to succeed 1873 log jail at time when lawlessness was rampant. Main building is late Victorian in style. Separate stone kitchen was added upon completion. The tall front section was to have a gallows, but no hangings have occurred here. Jail admits some 55 prisoners yearly. "Uncle" Andy Walters, a local character, once locked sheriff in this jail, but left key with judge on way home. Recorded Texas Historic Landmark - 1970."

Combined Bag-Holder and Sifter.

Patent for improvements in a combined bag-holder and sifter by using a supporting bracket secured to a wall, a bag-holder, a sifter located below the bag-holder, a detachable suspending connection between the sifter and the bag-engaging devices rising from the sifter. With this arrangement, the bag will be elevated into the proper position and to hold the bag against lateral movement while the sifter is being operated. The bag is to remain in proper position until the contents has been sifted entirely. Illustration is included.
