Caption: "Two-alarm fire caused extensive damage to the kitchen area of the Huckins Hotel Tuesday afternoon, and hotel owner, Paul Huckins left, watches firemen snuff out the blaze. Firemen and employes said the fire broke out about 12:30o.m. when grease boiled over on a stove. The blazwe was contained within the kitchen but smoke from the burning walls, ceilings and insulation filtered into the hotel's ventilation system and poured over the structure's 10 floors. Mrs. Hazel Manoles, a switchboard operator, was overcome by smoke and had to be revived with oxygen. thire drw a crowd of several hubdred persons."
