Davis advises Riddle that Judge Miller has taken the case. Davis has directed Brother Moore to contact Miller and "let him get busy on the mandamus proceedings".

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated December 26, 1941. Davis advises of illnesses having prevented his travel to conference with Carswell but that he will travel as soon as he can before they launch their drive in February. Davis asks Carswell to write or wire his Senator in reference to the liquor traffic bringing pressure to defeat the confirmation of the appointment of Dr. W. D. Bradfield as Chairman of the Texas Liquor Control Board.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated May 29, 1942. Davis advises Carswell that they are making a move on June 8 to get war time prohibition on the July Primary ballot and warns to keep mum until it is presented to the Democratic Committee. The reverse side includes a list of names handwritten by Carswell: Col. Finch, Maj. Bolling, W. Skinner.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Walter H. McKenzie, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated January 22, 1945. McKenzie advises that the last letter addressed to Carswell came back and that if this letter comes back he will take it that Carswell has moved and can no longer serve on the committee. Handwritten reply by Carswell dated January 27, 1945 advises McKenzie to "Do as you please. Did not ask it to begin with and see no reason to suggest or request appointment now. Cordially, TNC.".

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Walter H. McKenzie, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated January 29, 1945. McKenzie replies to a letter from Carswell explaining that he has no desire to leave Carswell off the executive committee and the reason for his letter was due to receiving a notification that the address had been changed to Washington, D. C. McKenzie assures Carswell of his desire to have Carswell's cooperation and influence, to hear from him occasionally and to see him if he comes to Dallas.

Davis advises Carswell that the Executive Committee, composed of George Sargeant, Edgar P. Haney, and Dr. Julian Atwood, informed him that they were impressed with Carswell as Davis' logical successor and that Dr. Francis A. Buddin would be contacting him. Notation at bottom of page advises of Carswell having answered on June 27, 1943.

McKenzie refers to writing and asking a question but that, in reply, Carswell only acknowledged his receipt of the letter and the suggestion made. He requests an answer from Carswell, to write about how he feels, regarding joining up with him. Davis discusses the strategy of the campaign to be used in church services advising that the temperance question should be presented in an educational way. Handwritten postscript on right edge of page advises that Davis will send a copy of the letter as requested by Carswell. The reverse side includes notes handwritten by Carswell for a sermon regarding action which should be taken against the liquor market.

McKenzie advises of a delay of their meeting until July 18 due to the McLennan County election on July 15. A letter written to T. N. Carswell from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated May 28, 1942. Davis confirms that he is sending a Scrap Book and sermon to the twelve pastors who were on the list he received from Carswell and will be bringing Bishop Boaz on the 14th.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated June 3, 1942. Davis confirms that Bishop Boaz will be with Brother Douglas Carver on June 14, glad Carswell is "getting" a group to go to Austin and enthusiatically advises, in a postscript, that Marion County voted dry on Saturday giving them 129 totally dry counties to date. The reverse side includes a handwritten note, "Cash 28.00" and dated June 7, 1942.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys, dated March 5, 1942. Davis suggests using a pledge card such as the enclosed one when presenting the matter to pastors and advises of more churches participating than there are special speakers available for every church noting that in Houston, the past year, the pastor of the church usually spoke and took an offering at the close of the service.

Davis advises Carswell of the biennial convention of the United Texas Drys meeting to be held on September 30 and requests that Carswell serve on the Committee of Nominations.
