[Wyoming Uranium Evaluation] Volume 1: A Summary of the Geology and Uranium Potential of Precambrian Conglomerates in Southeastern Wyoming
From deposit: Since 1975 a cooperative effort between the United States Department of Energy, United States Geological Survey, Geological Survey of Wyoming, the Geology Department, University of Wyoming, and various industry groups has resulted in the discovery of a series of uraniumthorium-and gold-bearing conglomerates in Late Archean and Early Proterozoic metasedimentary rocks of southern Wyoming. The mineral deposits were found by applying the time and strata bound model for the origin of uranium-bearing quartz-pebble conglomerates to favorable rock types within a geologic terrane known from prior regional mapping.

From Introduction Purpose and Scope: "The Arminto 1º x 2º quadrangle, in central Wyoming (Fig. 1), was evaluated to identify geologic environments that exhibit characteristics favorable for uranium deposition. Evaluation, consisting of three separate and distinct phases, started in October 1978 and ended in March 1980. It must be emphasized that this report is meant to be a preliminary reconnaissance-type study to identify favorable environments, as defined above."
