Preliminary Report on the Rimini Area, Jefferson City Quadrangle, Jefferson County and Lewis and Clark County, Montana (open access)

Preliminary Report on the Rimini Area, Jefferson City Quadrangle, Jefferson County and Lewis and Clark County, Montana

Abstract: A number of radioactivity anomalies and secondary uranium minerals have been found in the Rimini area near the northwestern margin of the Boulder batholith. Most of the anomalies are associated with chalcedonic vein zones that consist of one or more veins of cryptocrystalline and fine-grained quartz in silicified quartz monzonite and alaskite. Seventeen of the anomalies were found along veins that contain base and precious metals; nine were along veins in the vicinity of the village of Rimini from which there has been production of lead, silver, zinc, and gold.

The Comet and Gray Eagle Mines and Adjacent Area, Jefferson County, Montana (open access)

The Comet and Gray Eagle Mines and Adjacent Area, Jefferson County, Montana

Abstract: Anomalous radioactivity and uranium minerals have been found on the dumps of the Comet, Gray Eagle, and Silver Hill mines situated along the Comet-Gray Eagle shear zone. The shear zone is from 50 to 200 feet in width and has been traced 5 1/2 miles. The Gray Eagle mine is currently being reopened but no underground work, with the exception of a few shallow shafts and adits, has been done between the Gray Eagle and Comet mines. Because of the high U3 08 content of the samples from the Comet and Gray Eagle dumps, it is recommended that a minimum of four diamond drill holes totaling 3, 000 feet be drilled by AEC between the two mines to intersect the shear zone 300 to 500 feet below the surface. This drilling should be made contingent upon the results of the Gray Eagle exploration.

National Uranium Resource Evaluation: White Sulphur Spring Quadrangle, Montana

From Purpose: "The White Sulphur Springs Quadrangle, in west-central Montana between latitude 46º and 47ºN. and longitude 110º and 112ºW. (Fig. 1), was evaluated to identify geologic environments and delineate areas that exhibit characteristics favorable for uranium deposits. Favorable environments, as determined by surface and subsurface investigations, are those that could contain uranium deposits of at least 100 tons U3O8 at an average not less than 100 ppm U3O8."

Map Showing Altitude of the Top of the Lakota Formation and Equivalent Rocks, Montana (open access)

Map Showing Altitude of the Top of the Lakota Formation and Equivalent Rocks, Montana

Introduction: In 1978 the U.S. Geological Survey began a 4-year study of aquifers in the northern Great Plains. The purpose of this map, which is a product of that study, is to show the altitude of the top of the Lakota Formation and equivalent rocks. Other maps show the total thickness (Feltis, 1982a), cumulative thickness of sandstone (Feltis, 1982b), and potentiometric surface of water (Levings, 1982) in the Lakota Formation and equivalent rocks. These maps are part of a series that describes the geology and potentiometric surface of selected rock units of Jurassic or younger age in the plains area of Montana.

Filial Therapy with Native Americans on the Flathead Reservation (open access)

Filial Therapy with Native Americans on the Flathead Reservation

This study was designed to determine the effectiveness of the 10-week filial therapy model as an intervention for Native American parents and their children residing on the Flathead Reservation in Montana. Filial therapy is an approach used by play therapists to train parents to be therapeutic agents with their own children. Parents are taught basic child-centered play therapy skills and practice those skills during weekly play sessions with their children. The purpose of this study was to determine if filial therapy is effective in: 1) increasing parental acceptance of Native Americans residing on the Flathead Reservation of their children; 2) reducing the stress level of those parents; 3) improving empathic behaviors of those parents toward their children; 4) changing the play behaviors of children with their parents who participated in the training; and, 5) enhancing the self-concept of those children. The experimental group parents (N=11) received 10 weekly 2-hour filial therapy training sessions and participated in weekly 30-minute play sessions with one of their children. The control group (N=10) received no treatment during the 10 weeks. All adult participants completed the Porter Parental Acceptance Scale and the Parenting Stress Index. Child participants completed the Joseph Pre-school and Primary Self Concept …
