From purpose and scope: This prospectus report presents no original investigative results, but relies upon those of studies documented separately for the preparation of synopses of diverse topics related to cyclic injection and recovery of freshwater in that part of south Florida underlain by saline artesian aquifers. Abstract: This report contains data and statistics on low-flow frequency for 254 stream-gagins stations on Florida streams and canals. The selected stations have 10 or more years of continuous record. A site description, a 10-year hydrograph, and a table of flow duration are presented for each station. A computed monthly 7-day, 10-year low flow is presented for stations when flow is not significantly altered by dams, increased or decreased significantly by diversion, or influence by tides.

The following report presents the results of part of a geologic study of the phosphate deposits in central Florida. The purpose of the investigative research done in Florida is to determine the geologic history of the phosphate deposits and associated sediments, in order that the distribution of phosphate and uranium will be more clearly understood.

"This report, one of four on the peripheral areas, describes Cenozoic rocks on the northern and eastern edges of the land-pebble phosphate district, including part of the hard rock phosphate belt, Figure 1 and Plate 1 show the area studied."

From Abstract: "The mineral constituents of churn drill cuttings from a well through the Bone Valley formation and into the Hawthorn formation were determined. The weight percent of each mineral is given, as well as a description of the samples and the methods used."

From abstract: Areas of abnormal radioactivity south of Ocala, Marion County, Fla., discovered in 1953 by aerial survey, were investigated by surface examination and by 10 power auger drill holes. Interbedded clay, clayey sand, and uraniferous phosphorite occur in the areas of anomalous radioactivity. Miocene fossils occur at three localities in these beds which are evidently outliers of Miocene sediments on the Ocala limestone of Eocene age. The preserved outliers are southwest of the main belt of Miocene sediments. The principal uraniferous rocks are clayey, sandy, pellet phosphorite that occurs in beds a few feet thick, and very porous, phosphatic sand rock which makes abundant float at many places. Apatite forms the phosphate pellets in the unweathered phosphorite. The very porous, phosphatic sand rock is the highly leached residuum of the pellet phosphorite and is composed mainly of quartz, kaolinite, wavellite, and crandallite ( pseudowavellite2). It closely resembles the aluminum phosphate rock of the "leached zone" of the Bone Valley formation in the land-pebble phosphate district.
