The problem of this study was to determine the present status and effectiveness of the Kindergarten programs in the public schools of Texas.

This study sought to determine whether any differences existed in the degree of relationship between the self-concepts of Negro and white college freshmen as measured by the mean scores achieved by them on the Tennessee Self Concept Scale and the nature of their performance in written expression as measured by the mean evaluations received by them for certain aspects of their written work.

While various studies have related susceptibility to the Mueller-Lyer illusion to mental health, to developmental maturity, and to self-differentiation, there have been no studies in which susceptibility to the illusion has been related to a wide spectrum of self-concept dimensions. The present study was made to determine the relationship between the level of teaching effectiveness of beginning elementary teachers and three individual characteristics of prospective teachers. A secondary purpose was an attempt to improve the service rendered by the School of Education at North Texas State College, Denton, Texas, in the selection and guidance of students who indicate a desire to enter the program for preparing elementary teachers.

The overall purpose of the investigation was to determine the existence and extent of several relationships regarding the college student's seating position in the classroom.The design also included provisions for determining the relationships between the student's choice of seat and their academic achievement, academic ability, self-concept, self-acceptance, self-actual1zlng values, self regard, self-acceptance, initial expression of interest in the course, initial estimate of difficulty expected in the course, and initial estimate of his final grade in the course.

The major problem to be investigated consists of four phases: 1) the investigation of the relationship of sociempathic ability to self concept, sociometric status, mental ability, student teaching, and teaching effectiveness of elementary and secondary student teachers, and the relationship between sociometric status and self concept; 2) an investigation of the relationship of self concept and sociometric status to the teaching effectiveness of elementary and secondary student teachers; 3) a comparison of elementary and secondary student teachers on the strength of the relationships mentioned above, and on mean scores in self concept, sociempathic ability and mental ability; and 4) an investigation to determine if differences in self concept ratings exist among subject major groups of secondary student teachers, and to determine if there are differences between the sexes with regard to sociempathic ability.

The present study investigated the social adjustment (deviance), peer acceptance and academically related ability of pre-adolescent creative boys in a unique homogeneous school setting. More specifically, the study attempted to deal with the following questions: 1. What types of social deviance are characteristic of children at varying levels of creativity? 2. Is creativity more evident in children demonstrating certain socially deviant characteristics? 3. How much social acceptance is there of children demonstrating varying levels of social deviance and varying levels of creative ability? 4. What relationships exist "between creativity and intellectual ability, academic achievement and social behavior?

The problem undertaken in this study was to evaluate the activity phase of boys' physical education programs in selected junior high schools of Texas. As a result of visitation and observation in a number of public junior high schools in the capacity of supervising teacher for physical education majors, it appears that many physical education programs were little more than loosely supervised play periods. Apparently there was room for improvement of these programs but a method for making judgments and recommendations required some type of measuring device. However, an examination of several existing measuring techniques failed to reveal any one devoted to the junior high school level or one concerned primarily with the activity program. As a means of improving existing programs, it was concluded that some new form of evaluation must be designed.
