Analysis of a Form of Peak Holding Control

From Introduction: "The general objective of this report is a study of the characteristics of the described form of peak holding control. The control has not yet been used in experimental turbojet-engine study.This study is concerned with only one method of extracting the maximum amount of information from a peak output for the purpose of maintaining that peak. The criteria sought in this control process are: maintenance of peak average output, minimum duration of time in undesirable operation, quickness in response to command to reach peak condition, least amount of excursion in the undesirable region, and type of stability."

Generalized Indical Forces on Deforming Rectangular Wings in Supersonic Flight

"A method is presented for determining the time-dependent flow over a rectangular wing moving with a supersonic forward speed and undergoing small vertical distortions expressible as polynomials involving spanwise and chordwise distances. The solution for the velocity potential is presented in a form analogous to that for steady supersonic flow having the familiar "reflected area" concept discovered by Evvard. Particular attention is paid to indicial-type motions and results are expressed in terms of generalized indicial forces. Numerical results for Mach numbers equal to 1.1 and 1.2 are given for polynomials of the first and fifth degree in the chordwise and spanwise directions, respectively, on a wing having an aspect ratio of 4" (p. 595).

Memorandum presenting a summary of the effects of plan form and thickness on the lift and drag characteristics of wings at transonic speeds. The data was obtained during a transonic research program conducted in the high-speed 7- by 10-foot tunnel by the transonic-bump method. Results regarding lift, drag at zero lift, and drag due to lift are provided.

Free-flight investigation of jet effects at low supersonic Mach numbers on a fighter-type configuration employing a tail-boom assembly: longitudinal stability and trim

Report presenting flight tests over a range of Mach numbers to study the effects of a simulated afterburning turbojet engine on the gross longitudinal flight characteristics of two geometrically identical models of a swept-wing fighter-type configuration. Results regarding the trim characteristics, lift, pitching moment, dynamic stability, and drag are provided.
